Arizona Supreme Court Justices Leading the Way to our Next Generation The AZ Bar Foundation has made the goal to have 100 Next Generation Fellows by the close of Arizona’s Centennial celebration on February 14th! “This milestone is a fantastic way for the Foundation, and Arizona’s Legal community, to end Arizona’s yearlong celebration,” stated Lara Slifko, Chief Resource Officer of the AZ Bar Foundation. “Having our Arizona Supreme Court Justice lead us into the next hundred years is an honor and symbolic of the importance that equal access to justice holds in Arizona’s court system.”

What Your Pledge Means to Arizona

The pledge of $1,000 is the equivalent to 5 families receiving legal aid in their time of crisis and to 4 teachers receiving training and materials needed to teach 120 children about the law.

Their Legacy into the Next Generation

Thirty-five years ago, Arizona attorneys worked together to garner funds and increase support so that the Arizona Bar’s foundation could be formed. They were the Founding Fellows of the Arizona Foundation for Legal Services & Education (AZ Bar Foundation). With no one to lead them except their passion for equal access to justice, they laid a foundation that has now reached out to all counties of Arizona and offered in excess of 23 million dollars toward providing free legal aid to domestic violence victims, people facing loss of their homes, victims of fraud, families being broken apart, and those struggling to obtain benefits which were rightfully theirs.

In 2010, the Bar Foundation created the Next Generation Fellow program with the goal of finding 100 Next Generation Fellows before the end of Arizona’s Centennial Year. The 35 years of good works begun by the Founding Fellows must be carried forth to this next generation. With a commitment of $1,000 over the next 5 years ($200 per year), you can be recognized as a Foundation Next Generation Fellow for those 5 years.
