John Jay College of Criminal Justice, located in New York City, recently named the Florence Project the recipient of the 2010 John Jay Justice Award for Community Leadership. The award usually is only given to an individual, but the committee was impressed with the “amazing work” being done by the Florence Project.
Fellow honorees include the Women’s Peace Initiative (International Leadership award) and the Innocence Project (National Leadership award).
The College states that one of their main goals is to provide their students with real world exemplars of the types of justice work they can look forward to doing after they graduate.
The awards will be presented at a ceremony at the college on April 6th, 2010
