PHOENIX, Ariz. (February 13, 2004) - The Arizona Foundation for Legal Services & Education is pleased to announce the appointment of four new board members. The new members include Scott Bales, a partner with Lewis & Roca; Daniel Kaplan, an associate with Osborn Maledon; Benjamin Clark, Assistant General Counsel with Honeywell; and Jeffrey Willis, a partner with Snell & Wilmer.

The Foundation also elected officers for 2004 at its January meeting. Barb Dawson, a partner with Snell & Wilmer, is President. David Haga, a partner with Gallagher & Kennedy, is Vice-President. Teri Thomson-Taylor, Senior Attorney with the State Compensation Fund, is President-Elect. Christopher Littlefield, Senior Vice-President & General Counsel for The Dial Corporation, is Treasurer, and Gregg Curry, a director with Navigant Consulting, is Secretary.

“The Foundation is committed to marking its 25th year by more than celebrating past successes,” states Dawson. “While we are pleased that the Foundation is increasing equal access to justice for the poor in Arizona and educating children about civic duty and democracy, we are expanding our efforts as these groups remain underserved.”

This past year, the Foundation awarded nearly $2 million in grants to more than 20 non-profit organizations that provide legal services to those in need throughout the State. In addition, it developed and funded education programs that reached more than 60,000 school children.
