Description

Overview: In this academy, student’s rights and responsibilities in areas such as education, search and seizures, curfew, and labor laws will be addressed. As young people begin to enter into the adult world, it is important for them to understand that with increased rights comes an increase in responsibility. Participants will learn what the legal concerns are in these areas and how to assist students in maneuvering through the critical thinking process in order to make positive long-term decisions. Lesson plans and resources will be provided. In addition, this curriculum contains an optional culminating skit activity in which students apply knowledge about the laws and incorporate problem solving skills. Participants will also be introduced to the Arizona Law for Kids website and You Tube’ style video opportunity.
