Description
Overview: Community Works is a Street Law, Inc. curriculum that combines education and action to reduce teen victimization and to involve youth in their communities. The goals of this curriculum are to provide a practical understanding of crime and crime prevention that's useful in the everyday lives of young people; teach teens to be resources for each other and to interact positively with community members; develop each young person's communication and problem-solving skills to promote personal and project success in the community; strengthen young people's awareness of their community's resources; and encourage youth to focus on their own leadership role in the community.
Training Objectives: As a result of this training, participants will learn:
- How to strengthen students’ awareness of their community
- Methods for encouraging youth to take an active role in their community
- How to develop student leadership through service learning
