Description

Overview: In the 2014 Arizona Youth Survey, 8th -12th graders reported that if they used marijuana, alcohol, or prescription drugs, they obtained it from friends or at parties more often than any other source. Peer influence and pressure can have a major influence on the decision making of our youth. This training will provide participants with interactive methods to educate youth on the risks associated with being under the influence of drugs. It will address myths and facts related to Arizona’s drug laws and teach strategies to help youth resist peer pressure. Educators will leave this training equipped with lesson plans and resources designed to help youth make positive, educated decisions.

Training Objectives:
  • Educate students on the dangers associated with the use of drugs and alcohol
  • Teach problem-solving skills and the legal consequences associated with drug use
  • Develop strategies to cope with peer pressure and make healthy choices

Campus Issues Addressed:
  • Drug Use
  • Lack of understanding laws and legal consequences
  • Peer Pressure
  • Lack of interest in school

**Trainings are FREE for School Safety Officers. Scholarships are available on a limited basis for educators from a School Safety Site
