We the People: The Citizen & the Constitution

The Arizona We the People Competition is designated for high school students; however, the simulated congressional hearing is an excellent authentic assessment tool and can be used by We the People teachers at any level. Middle school students can showcase their hard work and talent at the competition but do not compete with their peers. We the People students interested in competing begin at the district level in December. The top teams from each of the eight congressional districts in Arizona will be invited to compete at the We the People State Competition held in January. The winning team at the state level will advance to compete at the National level.

Ten out of the past eleven years, Arizona teams have placed within the top ten. In 2002, Dobson High School placed first in the We the People National Competition. To see this year's competition results please visit We the People: The Citizen & the Constitution Program Site.
