Description

Overview: More than 60% of domestic violence happens in the home. According to the Arizona Department of Health Services, witnessing violence as a child is the strongest risk factor in transmitting violent behavior from one generation to the next. This academy will provide participants with interactive lessons to educate students on laws pertaining to domestic violence and understanding the difference between violence and acceptable parental discipline. Additionally, the materials will inform youth on the laws and possible consequences of running away and incorrigible acts. The lessons will equip students with the skills and strategies to reduce conflicts, avoid potential violence, report unsafe situations, and utilize community resources that can help families maintain healthy relationships.
