Arizona Foundation for Legal Services & Education Awards
Awards Acknowledged in conjunction with the Foundation participation in the annual Arizona State Bar Convention.
Nominations are due March 1st and are to include the individual's name; firm if applicable; address & other contact information; the award for which they are being nominated and contact information of the nominators; a summary of their characteristics, experiences, and service that qualifies them for the award; and support letters from others may be included. The Walter E. Craig Distinguished Services Award
Is awarded to that attorney who has manifested adherence to the highest principles and tradition of the legal profession and service to the public in the community in which he lives.
William E. Morris Pro Bono Service Award
Is awarded to recognize extraordinary contributions by an Arizona attorney in making legal services available to persons who otherwise could not afford them, and thereby to focus public awareness on the substantial voluntary services rendered by Arizona attorneys in this area. The award was renamed in 2000 to honor the memory of William E. Morris, a long-time attorney for the poor in Arizona.
Foundation for Justice Award
Created in 2005, by the Foundation, for those who have devoted expertise and time to changing the justice system to promote access and opportunity for those most vulnerable.
Top Pro Bono Attorneys of the Year
Recognizes extraordinary commitment of time and expertise to providing legal aid to those in need. The nominations for this award are submitted only by Foundation legal service grantees.
The Mark Santana Law-Related Education Award
Recognizes exceptional contributions of Arizona attorneys or law firms in furthering education and understanding of the role of the law in our democratic society. This award focuses public awareness on the contributions that attorneys provide to the community.
John J. Ross Memorial Award for Excellence in Law-Related Education
created through the Arizona Foundation for Legal Services & Education to honor the memory of Mr. Ross, who was a senior partner in the law firm of Brown and Bain. Each year, the Arizona Foundation for Legal Services & Education Center for Law-Related Education awards at least one $250 cash award for teacher excellence in law-related education.
The Law-Related Education Officer of the Year Award
Recognizes exceptional contributions of Arizona police and probation officers in furthering education and understanding of the role of the law in our democratic society. This award focuses public awareness on the contributions that officers provide to the community and Arizona schools.
