Description
Overview: During this training, participants will learn about the impact drugs and alcohol has on our youth and communities. This academy will also focus on the influence media has on drug use. Lesson plans will explore how movies, music, and advertisements influence both drug and alcohol use as well as prevention. Participants will leave armed with lessons that incorporate the latest trends, new drug prevention resources, as well as strategies for teaching prevention to the entire school community.
Objectives: As a result of this training, participants will be able to…
- Engage students in drug prevention activities through the use of current media and interactive lessons
- Teach problem-solving skills and the legal consequences of drug use
- Teach students to examine and filter messages about drugs in the media
- Present the latest drug trends and statistics to school staff and parents
